The right side barrel flat is marked with the import mark “IA CO / SAAC CA” and with a hardness punch mark. According to Walther's post-war records, the P1s with alloy slides in the serial number range of 001001 to 299707 were made from May of 1957 to July of 1966. Also keep in mind that many of the P1s were refurbished through the years, with new slides added to replace damaged ones. Many of them also are stamped with NATO numbers, which can be confusing. Finish Originality: The finish is as arsenal applied. ![]() We think the barrel and slide may have been refinished, possibly by the importer. The only clue is that the lathe marks in the barrel have been polished smooth, which normally doesn’t happen. The finish on the frame is original. Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is surface loss on the front edges of the frame, the rear edge of the beavertail and the edges of the trigger guard, with a few light handling marks in the front strap. There is also a spot of thinning at the right front of the slide. The serrations on the slide and small parts are sharp. The grip screw is sharp, the frame markings are crisp, but the crossed cannons mark on the right side of the slide is very shallow. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The double action trigger pull is relatively smooth and the single action pull shows a small amount of creep. The slide has a slight amount of side-side play on the frame. This pistol has a decocker on the left side of the slide. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards. Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol does not come with a magazine. Our Assessment: At the end of WWII, the Walther plant was under control of American forces, but when the East/West zones were created, the plant found itself in the Eastern zone, and the machinery was confiscated by the Russians. Fritz Walther had moved west while he still had a chance, and took his drawings with him. He then contacted the French firm of Manufacture De Machines Du Haut Rhin to make PP and PPK pistols under his license. Manurhin made and assembled PP and PPK pistols under their name, and later assembled pistols from slides and frames made by Walther in W. Best psx emulator windows 10.
